Massive Mobiles

Here's a selection of British mobile phones from the very first generation to the last of the analog phones.

Motorola 4500X

Motorola 4500X This is the mobile version of the Motorola 4500X, a first-generation carphone. It's called a “handportable telephone” in the manual, which also assumes that you have a mounting kit for the phone installed in the boot of your car. Most of the bulk and weight of the phone is the sealed lead-acid battery (long since dead).

Motorola 8500X

Motorola 8500X Another Motorola analog phone, in the newer “brick” style.

Nokia

Nokia Last of the Nokia analog phones.

The Nokia 9110

The Nokia 9110 is a puzzle; is it a Massive Mobile or an Old Organiser? Well, I suppose it's both. The photo shows it with the case closed, in GSM mobile phone mode. The processor is a 486, and the OS is GEOS. Believe it or not, this is my current, working mobile phone!
