Massive Mobiles |
Here's a selection of British mobile phones from the very first generation to the last of the analog phones.
This is the mobile version of the Motorola 4500X, a first-generation carphone. It's called a “handportable telephone” in the manual, which also assumes that you have a mounting kit for the phone installed in the boot of your car. Most of the bulk and weight of the phone is the sealed lead-acid battery (long since dead).
Another Motorola analog phone, in the newer “brick” style.
Last of the Nokia analog phones.
The Nokia 9110 is a puzzle; is it a Massive Mobile or an Old Organiser? Well, I suppose it's both. The photo shows it with the case closed, in GSM mobile phone mode. The processor is a 486, and the OS is GEOS. Believe it or not, this is my current, working mobile phone!
